What’s an AAHA accreditation, and what does it mean?

At P.A.W.S. Pet Hospital, it means we’re wholly committed to providing excellent customer service and veterinary care to every pet and pet owner who walks through our doors. We believe that only the best people, equipment, techniques, and products will do for our clients and patients. AAHA accreditation is not a mandatory status for animal practices to attain, but a voluntary distinction that requires exceptional dedication and adherence to the highest standards of veterinary medicine.

What’s AAHA?

AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association and has been motivating animal practices to raise the bar since 1933. AAHA is the only companion animal-exclusive veterinary association currently in existence, and between 12 and 15% of all animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are AAHA-accredited.

Those that have become accredited are among the best in the veterinary industry, leading the charge in medical and technological advancements and providing their clients with consistently outstanding service. To maintain their AAHA status, veterinary practices must meet or exceed approximately 900 standards of excellence across all aspects of veterinary medicine and client care, including staff training, pain management, sterilization of equipment and tools, customer services, and much more. Practices are evaluated every 3 years to ensure they’re adhering to those standards.

What AAHA Means for You and Your Pet:

Why would we put ourselves through the grueling process of becoming an AAHA-accredited animal hospital? Easy—we want what’s best for you and your four-legged family member. Providing the highest quality care and services to our patients is our #1 priority, and we love seeing happy pets and people. We’re motivated by our love of animals and the caring owners who make room in their lives for them.

Above all, our goal is to improve the lives of pets and their families by setting new standards in the veterinary industry. To learn more about AAHA and what it entails, go to www.aaha.org/.
